Melody Altstadt – Wisteria Classroom Teacher
Melody moved to the Pacific Northwest (specifically, Portland) from Minnesota in 1999. In 2008 she graduated from MINW with her AMI primary diploma. She also holds a M.Ed. from Loyolla College in Maryland. At the time of her graduation, Melody was married and pregnant with her son, Axel. Until Axel was born, she assisted in the Butterfly Cottage at Sunstone Montessori School. In 2009, Melody was hired as the first primary teacher at a new school, Sellwood Montessori. As Axel approached two and a half years old, Melody felt that a school with a separate classroom for him would be a better fit. This search led her to VMS. Now Melody has moved across the river with her family to become closer to their new school community. Axel attends the Lavender class and they are both excited about getting to know everyone. Melody loves that her interests: gardening, singing/music, theater, camping, sports, reading, biking, sewing and cooking can be incorporated, in some way, into her classroom.
