Montessori Vs. Daycare: Free Movement

In traditional daycare settings, a child is assigned to a specific seat or area within a classroom, regardless of their comfort level. This deters the child from interacting with their entire classroom environment and with each other. Compared to a daycare, the Montessori environment we create for our children can have a significant impact on their ability to learn. When a child feels relaxed and at ease, they are more ready to learn and perform better. Giving the children the freedom to move around their classroom helps them to feel more at home and engage in their activities while enhancing learning ability. This also helps teach children to learn boundaries and respect their classmates need for personal space. To help children feel at ease and create a better learning environment we incorporate.
• Group activities where children are encouraged to decorate the classroom together. This will help them feel a sense of ownership.
• Have a classroom pet. Pets fuel children’s natural fascination with animals, so they naturally enhance the classroom environment.
• Reduce noise. Noisy bells, buzzers and even loud air conditioners can be a distraction to children.
